Hyderabad Itinerary for 2 and 3 Days: Day-by-Day Plan
A tested day-by-day plan to see Hyderabad in 2 or 3 days, grouped by area so you spend time sightseeing, not stuck in traffic.
This itinerary groups Hyderabad's sights by area so you are not crossing the city repeatedly. It assumes a private cab for each day, which is the most practical way to link sights that are 10 to 30 km apart.
Avoid planning Old City museums on a Friday, when Chowmahalla Palace and Salar Jung Museum are usually closed.
Day 1: Golconda and the Old City
| Time | Plan |
|---|---|
| 8:00 AM | Golconda Fort. Climb to Bala Hissar before the heat |
| 10:30 AM | Qutb Shahi Tombs and heritage park |
| 12:30 PM | Lunch: Hyderabadi biryani |
| 2:00 PM | Chowmahalla Palace |
| 3:30 PM | Charminar, Mecca Masjid and Laad Bazaar |
| 5:00 PM | Irani chai and Osmania biscuits near Charminar |
| 7:00 PM | Optional: return to Golconda for the sound and light show |
Tip: If you want both the morning climb and the evening light show, swap the order. Do the Old City in the morning and Golconda from 4:00 PM, staying on for the show.
Day 2: Museums, Lakes and Hitec City
| Time | Plan |
|---|---|
| 10:30 AM | Salar Jung Museum (allow 2 to 3 hours) |
| 1:30 PM | Lunch at Abids or Nampally |
| 3:00 PM | Telangana State Archaeology Museum or Birla Science Museum |
| 5:00 PM | Birla Mandir for sunset views |
| 6:30 PM | Hussain Sagar boat ride to the Buddha Statue, Necklace Road |
| 8:30 PM | Dinner and Durgam Cheruvu Cable Bridge lights |
Day 3: Ramoji Film City
Ramoji Film City is about 30 km from the city on the Vijayawada highway and needs a full day. Leave by 8:00 AM to reach at opening time, and plan to be back by 8:00 PM.
On the way back, stop at Sanghi Temple if time allows. Read our Ramoji Film City guide for tickets and tips.
If You Have Only 2 Days
Do Day 1 as above, and on Day 2 combine Salar Jung Museum in the morning with Birla Mandir and Hussain Sagar in the evening. Skip Ramoji, or swap it in if you are travelling with children.
If You Have 4 or 5 Days

- Yadadri temple and Bhongir Fort: half day, 65 km. See our Yadadri temple guide.
- Warangal and Ramappa Temple: full day. See our Warangal travel guide.
- Srisailam: overnight trip. See our Srisailam travel guide.
Getting Around
Each day above is about 60 to 100 km of driving with several stops. An 8 hours / 80 km car rental with driver covers Day 1 or Day 2 comfortably, and a 12 hours / 120 km package suits the Ramoji day.
We also run fixed-price Hyderabad city tours and Ramoji Film City tours with doorstep pickup.
