The Route from Hyderabad

The route leaves Hyderabad on the Srisailam highway past Kandukur and Kalwakurthy, then climbs through the Amrabad Tiger Reserve in the Nallamala forest. The last 60 to 70 km are winding ghat roads with forest views and viewpoints over the Srisailam reservoir.

Forest gate timings: Night traffic through the Nallamala forest checkposts is restricted, with gates closed overnight (roughly 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM) to protect wildlife. Plan to cross in daylight.

Darshan at Srisailam

  • General darshan usually runs from early morning to midday, and again from late afternoon to night.
  • Paid darshan options, including Sparsha Darshan where devotees can touch the Jyotirlinga, have limited slots. Book in advance through the official temple website.
  • Traditional dress is expected, especially for Sparsha Darshan and abhishekam.
  • Expect long queues on Mondays, during Karthika Masam and around Maha Shivaratri.

Timings change during festivals, so check the official devasthanam website before you leave.
